Deborah Thurkettle
6 January - 31 January
A series of beautiful bold acrylic and oil paintings by artist Deborah Thurkettle whose work explores the land, wind, rain, mist, woods and colours in the environment both real and abstract translations. Her aim is to capture snippets of time and place and to use colour to describe both an inner and outer reality.
The primary area of focus in her work is the use of nature and the physical senses - to explore the limits and boundaries of perception. Exploring what is it like to paint the wind and the sensation of wind, to capture tear drops accumulating on the surface of the eyes, capturing a rain storm or a mood.
Colour is the vehicle and the work has been informed by an interest in the Cornish School and the New York Colorist painters. Her work is both dynamic and fresh. Deborah’s use of colour and space is both joyful and fun.
